<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">This year, developments in technology have been at an all time high. Whether it’s hover boards, electric scooters or even the massive popularity of drones, there’s no denying that technology is everywhere. But today, I want to talk about a new spin on a classic piece of technology, the car. Now, cars have been around for quite some time, since 1885 to be precise, although as we know, they have greatly evolved as the years have gone by. However, I can think of one company that completely revolutionized driving as we know it. Tesla Motors. Tesla means a lot to me as I am constantly looking for companies that help the world. I especially love cars and Tesla is the best car according to me.</span></div>
<div class="p3">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">Tesla, is paving the way to the future when it comes to everyday transportation. Their research into electric cars is driving the world forward, literally. I think that families that can afford Tesla’s should consider buying one. Most conscious people ensure that their actions won't hurt the environment, buying an electric car will cut down the harmful emissions that we pollute our earth with. Many people stray away from Tesla because of their 80 to 140 thousand dollar price tags, however, Tesla recently unleashed the Tesla Model 3, their 35k family friendly car. One of the benefits of buying a Tesla is that you save money the more you drive it. That’s right, the more you drive a regular car, the more you would be paying for gas, but with a Tesla, you simply plug it into any one of the 7000 charging points in Canada alone, for absolutely free. There are even additional options to charge Teslas in your garage. Another reason that people stray away from Tesla’s is their anxiety to be stranded after losing charge. But did you know?fully charged Tesla Model 3 can go almost 425 km without the need the re-charge while Tesla’s built-in 17-inch tablet, tells you the nearest charging point at any given time. If safety’s your concern, then the Tesla is the car for you. During it’s safety test, Tesla Model S scored 5.4 out of 5, the highest score given to any car ever. In fact, the Model S is so durable, during a crash test it destroyed the machine intended to break the car. All in all, I believe that Tesla’s are the way of the future and are a window into tomorrow’s automobile innovation.</span></div>
<div class="p3">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p3">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p4">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p3">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">Tesla’s future, we all have room to grow and learn from our mistakes. Tesla is no different. I would like to explore, where we could see Tesla in the next 5, 10 or even 20 years. We can, however, say with certainty that Tesla will most definitely stay electric. Bloomberg Today, suggests that Tesla will expand their ventures into a brand new Tesla Model Y, which from a few hints from Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO is a pickup truck of sorts. We may even see a cross-over similar to the Model X and a minibus, possibly for a limo service. Tesla has even implemented autopilot into their newer cars, a feature that allows the car a brain of its own. However, Tesla isn’t just a car company, earlier in 2015, Tesla launched their new household feature called Powerwall. The purpose of this device is to power one household by effectively enhance the power of the sun. Even in typically cloudy cities, it’s extremely plausible to reduce your electricity bill by over 80%. With these changes and many more to be expected, I have made a prediction of my own, a flying car. We have seen them in many futuristic movies, but maybe just one day in the near future, when technology advances we would be gifted with flying cars.My final verdict, regardless of where Tesla decides to go, electric cars are here to stay and will continue to revolutionize driving. But I want to leave you with this... How do you feel about electric cars and do you think your family should buy a Tesla?</span></div>

<span class="s1">The all too familiar commands I've gotten accustomed to with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. My journey with the Air Cadets started just a little over a year ago, and yet the friends I have made and lessons I have been taught will certainly last a lifetime. I can’t begin to explain how impressed I am with not only the level of knowledge and discipline they have taught my peers and me, but also the wide array of diversity that I experience day after day with this fantastic program. Many assume that the air cadets is a boot camp or military academy, but really it’s an organization, that helps shape you and tailors your future. Before I joined the cadets organization I wasn't too sure about the structure of the program, despite having 4 cousins graduating as some of the highest ranking positions offered to cadets. It was only when I turned 12, I decided to attend the information night and learn more. Equipped with that newfound knowledge, I decided to enroll. And once I did, there was no turning back.The Tuesday night meetings are epic, nights filled with friends, aviation, drill and for those who want more, there is the in-house band and even the public speaking and debating team. There are so many platforms to do absolutely anything you want,<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>I got the freedom to choose and pursue my passion.</span></div>

<span class="s1">Opportunities regularly present themselves to cadets and with them we learn how to excel. My squadron gave me the opportunity to put my speaking skills to the test and I went on to win 3rd place at the regional competition. I also got the chance to be on my squadrons debate team. Both were amazing experiences that really helped develop my skills and gave me the chance to interact with cadets from all over. The program also offers cadet camps that you can take over the summer allowing you to meet like-minded people who are passionate about cadets. As a first year cadet, I went to General Training, the 2-week course is designed to show you a little bit of everything through practical and more importantly fun activities that engage you and your friends. On the day of graduation, I left with the award for Top Cadet in Golf Squadron and some of the memories of the best 2 weeks of my life. It gave me invaluable insights about the kinds of camps people took. Some of my cousins that successfully went through the program were also high achievers – for instance, one learned to fly gliders before he learned how to drive a car, another went on an exchange program to Australia while another received medals for her passion for effective speaking. Yes… I do have many cousins!!! To me, that’s where it all began. It was those stories that motivated me to soar. This journey that began last year, will continue to be an adventure full of surprises waiting at every turn. I’m so glad I decided to Walk in the Forest.</span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;">This past May, my family and I went for a 4 day stay in Switzerland. During our trip, we scaled 2 different mountains and visited 2 cities. There were boat tours, train rides, lots of walking and most importantly some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in my life. On previous occasions, I have been to England, France, Italy and a handful of other countries in Europe, however, Switzerland will remain one of the most picturesque. In this blog, I will be going over my experiences in Switzerland and the tips I would recommend if you want to visit Switzerland.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; background-color: white; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 16px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"> The first place we visited is the world renowned Mount Titlis. We took a 45-minute train from our hotel in Lucerne to a station called Engleberg. As soon as we stepped off of the train we found ourselves in a small town and the summit of Titlis was not far ahead of us. We went to the ticket booth and presented our Swiss Pass. This brings me to my very first point, if you plan to travel even a little please consider buying a Swiss Pass. Whether you're experiencing the country solo or with a large group, traveling like many other things in Switzerland is very expensive. The pass saved us approximately $700 is 4 days. Back to the mountain, we decided to go up by a cable car, quite a scary experience for me considering at certain points we were well over 100 feet from the ground and it was my first time. However, once I got over the initial fear factor the scenic views were breathtaking. The cars allowed for a 360-degree panoramic view of the mountain. Many people also decided to scale the mountain freehand and then snowboard or ski down the mountain. As soon as we stepped off the cable car, we followed a flight of stairs up to an observation deck. There were views of many other mountains in the distance. We went approximately 8,000 feet high at the summit. The glacier at the top was a fantastic sight and the air outside was a great refresher from the temperature on the ground. The mountain was absolutely amazing and as a traveler, I would recommend it. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; background-color: white; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 16px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">The second mountain we went to is called Mount Pilatus, this mountain boasts a summit over 2000 meters above sea level with a cable car capable of carry approximately 30 terrified people to the summit. This cable car experience was my second and definitely the most fun I've ever had on a cable car. This time around the car never went under 500 feet and to add to that, there were yodellers singing the whole way up. The experience seemed straight out of a movie. The mountain was different from Titlis because there were many things to do even at different levels of the mountain, the first level was mainly for pictures of surrounding mountains, however there were also many bike trails and even a forest stunt course. You could even zip-line! when we reached the second level we had opportunities for photos but also to look at the country below. The view was impeccable and it was truly a fantastic experience.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; background-color: white; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 16px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"> The second place I really enjoyed was our home base for our time in Switzerland, Lucern. In this city, we visited Lake Lucern, a peaceful lake surrounded by many homes and smaller cottages. Great area for taking pictures, however, for this city, the food and drink is quite expensive so I recommend bringing along some for the day. Hot Dogs will now make tip #2, if you're looking for a quick bite hot dogs serve as a cheap and convenient to way to purchase your food and will get you around. Another place we went to in Lucern was the Chapel bridge. This bridge built in 1333 is the oldest truss bridge in the world and was originally used by civilians as the way into the old main town. There were many pictures that described the rich history of the bridge and its significance in Switzerland's history. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; background-color: white; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 16px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">We also visited was Interlakken, we took a train from our main station and experienced a panoramic cabin in the train that allowed us to see the quaint town of Interlakken in the day. We got enjoyed our pizza and swiss ice-cream. We saw many picturesque sights, strolled through town, taking in all in. Between the many ice cream stands and the luxury cars, I had a hard time keeping up. It was pretty town and I wish we had more time to explore in and around. The city was breathtaking and I definitely enjoyed it. This beautiful city is a must see.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; background-color: white; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 16px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">There’s more than just cheese to Switzerland!!!</span></div>

<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Did you know what career you wanted to pursue when you were a child? I know I do, but the problem is that kids earlier that grade 9 don’t have access to resources that will allow them to find out about their dream job. I know that incorporating an elective program in grade 6 will allow students much more choice not only in their education, but also in their future endeavours. If students earlier than grade 9 were given the opportunity to customize their education, they wouldn't waste time of subjects that don’t matter or apply to them in this “One size fits all” school system. </span></span></div>
<span id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490459900296_4545" style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Personally I want to be a lawyer or an entrepreneur when I grow up, but school does absolutely NOTHING when it comes to my education to help me prepare for court cases or how to get investors to invest in my potential company. I believe that schools are distracted when it comes to students and want to focus on subjects like math and science when they are completely irrelevant to people who want to pursue jobs that wouldn’t entail exponents or chemistry. </span></span><br />
<br /><span id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490459900296_4548" style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Electives would allow students to be exponentially more productive in school because they’re surrounded by people with similar interests who are focused on subjects that they like and are good at. It also gives lots of opportunities for kids who aren’t sure about what they want to do to get a better understanding about what the job is really about. Students will gain a better understanding of what they’re good at while also striking a balance about what they like as well. I believe that like every other industry, the education sector must evolve and embrace new changes with an open mind. Subjects like Law and Business are only offered in high school, which for kids who want to pursue law or business studies they have to wait for 9 years to even get a grasp at the career they think seems interesting.</span></span><br />
<br /><span id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490459900296_4557" style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The happiness and motivation to succeed will go off the charts should the District School Board implement programs which allow students a broad range of choice and customization to their individualized learning. </span></span><br />
<span id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490459900296_4556" style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In conclusion, I strongly believe and encourage that electives be incorporated as part of standard learning because it will help students gain a better understanding of their ideal job, enhance the way they learn and grow and give them the element of choice they need to succeed.</span></span><br />
<span id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490459900296_4556" style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br />

</div>
<br /><br />Summer is filled with road trips and vacation plans, but as an experienced traveler, I would without a doubt recommend visiting the eastern provinces of Canada. Alluring, engaging, and ravishing are all words, I would use to describe the 3 most stunning provinces Canada has to offer. Atlantic Canada, the 4 provinces commonly referred to as the Maritimes, comprise Quebec, Nova Scotia, PEI and New Brunswick. <br /><br />My trip started out driving to Quebec, while the ten hour drive was quite lengthy, to say the least, however it was nothing short of stunning. When we got to Montreal we stopped at a small restaurant to get a taste of Canada's national food, poutine. I can honestly say it was the best poutine I have ever had-and that's coming from a Canadian! While in Montreal, I got to see first hand the impact the French had on the city. The city greatly reminded me of Paris. The streets had a special charm and had little quaint shops on the sides of the streets, it really struck a chord with me. The place we stayed in Montreal was really exquisite, our "backyard" was a view of a lake with classic rural farms in the background. <br /><br />We then headed to Nova Scotia, I personally was extremely excited to see the world-famous lighthouse Peggy's Cove. The drive to the lighthouse from our cottage was extremely impressive because the rocks that surrounded the lighthouse gave lighthouse a beautiful, picture-perfect look. The less famous, but equally as impressive tourist destination we visited in Nova Scotia was the Bay of Fundy, if you've ever wanted to know what it's like to walk on the bottom of the ocean, then you'd love the Bay of Fundy.<br /><br />And finally as we made our way back to Quebec on our return journey we stayed in the house of former Prime Minister Hon. Sir Mackenzie Bowell in Saint Andrew's, a beautiful inn called Tara manor. The inn was very old fashioned, but all the while really cozy. During our time in St. Andrew's, I went whale watching, something I had never done before. I got to see whales, porpoises, dolphins and even some seals. After whale watching we went to go get some traditional Lobster and mussels from a nearby store. The beady-eyed lobsters came out of the pot and then were served, topped with melted butter. We scarfed them down and even had room for the follow up mussels. I even found a starfish in one!<br /><br />All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my vacation to the East Coast of Canada and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who visits Canada. <span style="color: #1f497d; font-family: Calibri;"><span style="color: #1f497d; font-family: Calibri;"><span style="color: #1f497d; font-family: Calibri;"> </span> </span><br /></span><div align="LEFT" dir="LTR">

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">In Rome, we visited many famous landmarks including the Vatican, the Colosseum, and we even visited a city called Assisi. For me, Rome represented a place to appreciate architecture,visit religious monuments and to see what how the history of Italy was formed. Rome was a place of relaxation and scenic views. From the time I got out of the airport, the scenes were a constant reminder of how beautiful Italy really was. While Rome is a busy place, there are plenty of opportunities to find Rome’s peaceful aura and vibe. One of my most favourite places in Rome was our visit to the Colosseum, there we got to imagine the long and difficult process, that was building the Colosseum. Our tour took us across the 5 levels of the Colosseum and we learned many interesting facts there. Another place we visited in Rome was the Vatican. The Vatican is an amazing place, filled with centuries and centuries of art and history. The Vatican is rich with history and full of scenic views. We even had a day trip to Assisi. On our day trip, we encountered a more rural and traditional version of Italy. We were on a hilltop with spectacular views of the land below. We visited many Churches and paid tribute to Assisi`s patron saint, Francis. To finish off our day, we walked the cobblestone rock that Saint Francis likely walked, hundreds of years ago. In conclusion, Rome is an amazing place with beautiful architecture, amazing scenery and is a must visit for Italy. Another place we visited was Orvietto. In Orvietto we drove across many narrow cobblestone roads. The experience was something new for my entire family and is one I’ll never forget. </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjntRjM8Vs2ArGWQ_AF53namrgc4S2L0WYZz_p9OUkitsGU3saSYj6UHJB2cHYh93toM0qtstT7T_VUGqBI6su6n0FV8DqhBwelh4zpbgdPKRXtnm8kkXDe1xXDxcZy-1ihtNKs2QzC-o-7/s1600/Venice.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjntRjM8Vs2ArGWQ_AF53namrgc4S2L0WYZz_p9OUkitsGU3saSYj6UHJB2cHYh93toM0qtstT7T_VUGqBI6su6n0FV8DqhBwelh4zpbgdPKRXtnm8kkXDe1xXDxcZy-1ihtNKs2QzC-o-7/s1600/Venice.jpg" /></a><br />
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">My second half of my trip was spent in the majestic city of Venice. To say Venice is absolutely stunning is an understatement because in my opinion, Venice is probably one of the most beautiful places on the face of planet Earth, and that’s coming from a frequent traveller. Venice has this special charm that made me feel happy wherever I walked. In Venice, we roamed the quaint city in search of classic Venice traditions. Whenever we weren't walking, we were on a boat, more commonly referred to as a gondola. Gondolas are a major mode of transportation in Venice as the city is built on water. We spent most of our free time on Piazza San Marco, a town square where tourists and locals can, enjoy music and even grab a gelato or two from neighbouring gelato shops. While Venice is a small place, there will never come a time where the city doesn't cease to take your breath away. From Doge’s palace to the Grand Canal, Venice really does have it all. All in all, Venice is a beautiful place and also is fantastic for tourism and relaxation alike.</span></span>DJ- Spin that Wheelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09598854107480582681noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015994765373503005.post-31562659973910008172016-04-11T17:39:00.004-07:002016-04-11T17:39:49.940-07:005 tips and tricks to follow when learning a new language<div>
Languages are great, they enable us to talk and communicate with others, they even open up a world of job opportunities and can improve your brain power. But when learning a language, it can get frustrating, a lot. I have compiled of here are 5 tips and tricks to follow when learning a new language.</div>
<div>
1. Patience, I get it, when you start a new language you may feel helpless. Not knowing what to say or do. Where to put the accent and why masculine and feminine are a thing. There are plenty of ways to remember the facts you need, one of them being time. With time, you'll practice and get it easily, it's all a matter of patience. </div>
<div>
2. Cause, know why you're learning the language. When you learn anything, especially a language, a cause will keep you focused and motivated. Even setting weekly goals can go a long way if you have the right combination of determination and focus. Committing to a language is hard, but you need a genuine reason and a passion to learn it.</div>
<div>
3. Shows and movies, probably the best way to learn a language. Watching shows and movies in your newly developing language is great when you want to learn the language informally. Starting with absolute beginner videos can be great and will help you a lot. In my experience, I've started with shows that are slightly above my level and gradually made my way up.</div>
<div>
4. Talking to people will help a lot too. When you learn a language with a person you can both talk to eachother and use eachother to practice your speaking skills. Then after speaking to your friend you will feel more confident when speaking to people who speak the language everyday.</div>
<div>
5. Listening, a huge part of learning a language is to watch other people speak it. It's why we have two ears and one mouth, to listen twice as much as we speak. From personal experience, it taught me to pronounce certain words with more flare or less expression. Listening will be huge on your journey to a new language. Languages will sound weird for the first, but by exposing yourself to the language your actually familiarizing yourself with it and understanding it more throughout.</div>
<div>
All in all, my main message is to keep at it. You'll have your highs and lows but it'll all pay off when you realize that there is nothing more rewarding than that sense of completion. Good luck and have fun with it. </div>

This past week my friends and I went to a camp up north in a small rural town called Muskoka. In Muskoka, the experiences I had and the new friends I made were amazing. We told scary stories around a campfire in a dark forest where wolves roamed all around, or even the time when we went to the aerial park with ropes and bridges suspended from 60 foot tall trees. At night we even stayed in log cabins that really gave us an idea of what Europeans would've had to do when coming to Canada. But the best part: NO DEVICES</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; font: 12.8px/normal arial, sans-serif; letter-spacing: normal; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; font: 12.8px/normal arial, sans-serif; letter-spacing: normal; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px;">
My absolute favourite event at Muskoka was the time when we had a major event called survivor Muskoka! Survivor Muskoka is a 2 hour long project that really tests your survival skills but more over team work and partnership abilities. Our tasks during the activity were to elect a leader, make a chant and a group name. Once we did that the teachers would assess our creativity from our chants. We would then get time to build a fire that would burn through a thick rope. We also had to find food and water for our team in order to survive. We also built a hut that supported ten people for people who got cold.</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; font: 12.8px/normal arial, sans-serif; letter-spacing: normal; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; font: 12.8px/normal arial, sans-serif; letter-spacing: normal; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px;">
Another cool thing we did at Muskoka was going to the aerial park. In the aerial park we climbed a 60 foot tree and went across rickety bridges, steel cables and even suspended logs. It really tested my risk-taking abilities but also my physical abilities and my mental abilities. </div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #222222; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; font: 12.8px/normal arial, sans-serif; letter-spacing: normal; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px;">
All in all, I think that it's important to attend camps like this because in our lives we use devices so much that it's important to sit back and take a break from all the games. Along with all the fun I had, Camp Muskoka also integrated some amazing survival skills with the great outdoors. The experience was truly once in a lifetime.</div>

For me, Christmas isn’t just a time to get presents. It’s a time to look back at the past year and smile at your accomplishments and learn from things that you could have done better. Christmas is the time to share, for it is in giving that we receive.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This year, I along with my dad participated in an initiative to give gently used jackets to underprivileged kids in Kenya. We hope to get over 30 jackets by February (finger crossed). For this project, I started off by making a script and then calling up my friends and cousins over the phone to ask for their help. It took a lot of work but in the end, it paid off. This Christmas I want to see all the fortunate people do good deeds for the needy in our community, even if it’s volunteering for an hour at your local food bank. It's feels great to give back.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Whatever you decide to do this Christmas, I hope you enjoy yourself with your family and make a difference.</div>

Talk to the boys in Koh Panyee, Thailand. Koh Panyee is a manmade floating island, the boys there loved watching soccer but they were never able to play because there was very little extra space in the village. Their solution: build a soccer pitch. They collected spare wood from the village to realise their dream. The small pitch, protruding nails and the doubting Thomas' were only a few of the many challenges they faced. However the boys believed in the impossible and ended up winning 3rd place in a local soccer tournament. <br />
<br />
So what do we learn from this? When starting a new goal true determination is key because if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will. After all like the soccer legend, Pele said, <strong>“Success is no accident”</strong>. Never underestimate the power of belief because you can go to great lengths if you simply give it your best shot. The members of Koh Panyee are not just true winners but true leaders. They inspire us have to have a go-getter attitude every single day no matter how hard life may make it. They teach us important virtues like patience, persistence and hard work that all lead to the same thing: success. Remember, <strong>“Success will never come to you, you have to go to it.”</strong><br />

all, a politician's life is really hard, anything they do will be judged,
documented and criticized. </span><span class="yiv1337337699s1">Let's look at
Stephen Harper, the Duffy trial gave him much negative publicity. Voters aware
of controversies have issues when it comes to trusting the government in power.
Justin Trudeau has and will face criticism for his views on the legalization of
marijuana. Although in Trudeau’s case, it seems like the voters may have been
misguided. Going against prior misconception Trudeau has spoken out when one of
his ministers said the opposite. When you associated with politics,
communication is key, obviously someone hasn't kept up to date or simply has
not been paying attention. Tom Mulcair, on the other hand is prompting change
because of Canada's recession. Lower cash flow in the country is less money to
give to Canadian workers. It all boils down to how well the candidate persuades
the nation. That's why Tom Mulcair is so focused on telling everyone about his
history, his past in order that everyone will look to him as a strong leader.
After all he has no experience in the PM's office. Many people say you can't
please everybody, but that's what a politician’s job is all about. All in all </span><span class="yiv1337337699s2">October 19</span><span class="yiv1337337699s1"> will be a

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">When I think Pluto, I think, small planet not 400 degrees
below zero temperatures and giant ice mountains! But recent discoveries by NASA
have left scientists completely dumbfounded about its new and astonishing
facts. Pluto was originally thought to be a regular planet but since it has a
width of only half the U.S. you can see why it’s now classified as a dwarf
planet. NASA does a lot of space missions, after all it’s the most famous space
company in the world but in 2007 no one thought NASA was going to get complete
pictures of the planet. 8 years later I think it is safe to say they have come
really far. Many people may think these missions are useless but with every
planet we discover we are one step closer to possibly finding another planet to
live on when and if earth overpopulates, conditions worsen or global warming
takes control. Pluto has a rather different route around the sun as it takes
248 years for it to make 1 orbit around the sun. Pluto has some crazy features including
a heart in its atmosphere. Even though Pluto was found in the 1930’s most of
its discoveries have happened in this year alone. I think Pluto is truly a
fascinating planet with all its features but right now, Earth seems the most
beautiful and livable of them all.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; tab-stops: 7.1pt 233.9pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">This past Victoria Day
weekend I visited the Port Albert Cottage and Inn at Goderich, Ontario for the consecutive year.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After a beautiful 2 hour drive it was hard to
believe we were really there. When I hopped out of the car with my friend Nathan
we took a look at the beautiful inn. Inside I sat with Nathan near the
fireplace and instantly felt warm. Shortly after we were allowed in to our
cottage called “The Mill House”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Soon
my other friends Josh, Jon, Luke, Mark, Kynan and Frank slowly trickled into
the house one by one. We decided to help our parents unload the cars and
discovered that Nathan had brought a multi-use sports net.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We set it up and played tennis, volleyball
and badminton right up till sunset. Towards the night our parents let us use
our iPads. We built traps and raided castles in minecraft. We also roasted
marshmallows after an amazing dinner of barbecued chicken and burgers. </span><span style="font-family: Calibri;">We also caught up on a movie called The Longest Yard. My first day at the cottage
was amazing. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; tab-stops: 7.1pt 233.9pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">On our second day we visited a cheese factory, I sampled so many
types of cheese that I lost count. From the ones I do remember I tried a 9 yr.
old cheddar, cheese fudge, munster, and cheese curds. I also milked a fake cow.
I went fishing with Nathan but we were out of luck so I decided to head back to
the cottage. When we got back home we played games like 7 tiles which was a lot
of<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>fun but really confusing. I enjoyed
the games but unfortunately we had to stop for dinner. Dinner
was really good, pasta and meatballs. When we had finished I decided to watch
my favourite show Shark Tank, a show about investing in small businesses. Then
it was time for another flick Furious 7, I liked it because it had a lot of action
and adventure. All in all my trip to the cottage was great, I got to try a lot
of new things but most of all I got to be with family and friends. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Andalus","serif";">During the March
break, my parents and I visited Brussels, the capital city of Belgium. Before
we saw any tourist attractions we went to our hotel the Radisson Park-in. After
checking in, we got down to business and bought tickets to Bruges and Ghent.
The train ride was amazing. Both Bruges and Ghent had a lot of antique shops
and some fascinating buildings. We also visited a few churches - the Basilica
of the Holy blood and Church of our Lady of Bruges. The church’s architecture
was stunning, it was all done up with huge pretty murals on the walls. Another
tourist attraction in Brussels was the Manneken Pis, <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>a sculpture of a bronze boy peeing into a
fountain. Manneken Pis also happens to be the symbol of the city of Brussels.
What’s interesting about the boy is that they dress him up for different
celebrations and events. For dinner, we went to a place called l’Escale they
served us shrimp roasted in white wine. Delish!!! <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I had some local Belgian pasta. The food was really
good. The next day we went to a market which was really bustling with people.
We got some fresh fruits and vegetables, then some chocolates and sweets from a
candy mstore. Brussels was a lot of fun! I hope I can visit again soon.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Christmas may be a time for new presents, Santa Claus and meeting family but there is more meaning to Christmas than that. On Christmas 2014 years ago a little boy named Jesus was born, he is the Son of Man and did important things and performed miracles like turning water into wine, raising the dead back to life and dying on the cross for us. I believe that ‘’Jesus is the reason for the season’’ and that we should ‘’Keep Christ in Christmas ‘’</div>
<br />
<div align="JUSTIFY">
Christmas is a time to think of the less fortunate than us. For the last two weeks of advent my family & I went to our local food bank to donate food and help out. I got to see how sad it was to watch people have such joy over one meal but it also made me think about not wasting food and eating whatever is served to me. You can also give your time caroling at the senior home. I am sure that will make them happy. During the season we can all be more patient and caring towards others like showing more forgiveness and tolerance. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and remember: </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Christmas is coming </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It’ll go fast</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Give someone joy</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Joy that’ll last</div>

<span style="font-family: "Century Gothic","sans-serif"; font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Recently my family
and I went to London and Paris. We spent 10 days in all and had a great time, let me tell you all about it. The best place that we went to was the Harry
Potter Studios. There I dressed up as Ron, accepted a challenge to find 15
hidden snitches (which I won), I climbed and flew a Nimbus 2000, drank butter beer, visited HOGWARTS!!!!!, bought Bertie Botts every flavoured Beans, saw all my
favorite characters WANDS, walked through the shops of Diagon Alley, made my
own spell, made and bought my own wand and my audio tour guide was Tom Felton.
Another day we went on the Big Bus Tour where we saw the top-secret foreign
intelligence spy organisation facility, Big Ben, London Eye, St. Paul’s church, the |Shard, RAF
bomber memorial, Stonehenge, Hyde Park, Buckingham palace. Boy, was that fun... We also went to Paris we spent three days there doing a lot of touristy stuff. The first place we
went to was the Eiffel Tower, got great
pictures there, saw the Mona Lisa in person, we went to Notre Dame and attended
a mass. The next day we went to Sacre Coeur and the Arc de Triomphe. When we got back to London we headed to Salisbury where we saw some of the Magna Carta documents, Windsor Castle and the Greenwich Mean time. Then it was time to head
back to Canada. I will never forget this trip, this amazing trip filled with lots and lots of fun.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "Century Gothic","sans-serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN; mso-bidi-font-size: 22.0pt;">This summer was an amazing experience, let me tell you
why. After school ended I could have easily been the happiest person alive… no
work, no teachers…no worries…. what could be more right? So let me begin the
summery of my amazing summer. This summer I went camping for the very first
time with my friends and parents. We roasted marshmallows, slept in tents and
overall had a great time. The next big I did this summer was paddle boarding, a
new sport I learned while at day camp. It is a lot of fun but can be a little
bit dangerous if you are not careful. Paddle boarding is stand up canoeing on a
surf board. I had a lot of fun with this new sport and it taught me a couple of
thing - first of all it taught me balance and trust. The trust part of it is
because I couldn’t go alone so I had to trust that my friends don’t tip the
board or lean it when we get on. Another cool thing I did this summer was the U.S.
trip, I went to Michigan to see my cousins. We played catch in the pool and did
an icy challenge where we would go into the hot tub for 3 minutes and then jump
into the freezing cold pool. In Michigan we visited a place called Frankenmuth
a little German town about 20 minutes away from Saginaw where we enjoyed live
music, food and the company of family. The rest of summer went by with visits
to my friends houses when we had no camp. Our typical day consisted of video
games, TV, outside fun and great food. Playing in the park was another thing I
did this summer with my friends; I hung on the monkey bars a lot and my friends
and I invented games like “The shoe game” and “Sand volley / basketball”. My
summer was awesome and I will never forget it. This summer I did so many new
things and I enjoyed them all, I hope that my next summer is as good or better
that this one.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="line-height: 115%;">This past Canada Day weekend I went with my friends and family on
a camping trip to Algonquin and I was really excited. Considering it was my
first time I didn’t know what to expect but that just made me want to get there
faster. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;">I had heard from my friend that bears lurked in the forest that we were
going to but when I got there it seemed like a really nice place to spend the
next 4 days… other than the fact that Algonquin was swarming with mosquitoes. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;">At
Algonquin I got to solve a mystery about a bird called a Black-Capped Chickadee
and why it disappeared. I was very interesting as I have never even heard of
this species of bird before. Algonquin also gave me the opportunity to learn
about loggers at a Loggers museum. A logger is also known as a lumberjack. At the
museum we were taken through an open forest where they displayed a variety of
machines and axes loggers used. After the Loggers museum my friends and I
decided to take a break. So we went for a swim in the lake. Despite the fact that
the water was FREEZING, it was awesome once I got used to it. Another highpoint
of the trip was roasting marshmallows. Boy were they good & I asked for s’more! </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 115%;">Camping was a great experience and I would love to go again. :D<span style="font-size: large;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

</span><br />
<i><u><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">Day 1</span></u><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;"></span><br /></i><div align="JUSTIFY">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">The cottage was a lot of fun when we got there. In the morning we played soccer, pump and basketball. Towards the afternoon we went on a walk to the Nude Beach yes you got it the Nude Beach. Why it was called that, I have absolutely no idea. At first the Nude beach was weird with 4 dead fish lying in the sand in the warm sand. Then it got interesting: I found 5 fossils and 3 really cool rocks, they were amazing. At 2 o’clock we went to a cheese factory and sampled 9 year old mozzarella and we even got to eat homemade ice cream. The cheese factory was definitely a cool experience for me. After the cheese factory we went back to the cottage and played till about 6 o'clock on our iPods. We then gathered arounf the fire for some ghost stories...... boy were they scary, when we had had enough we went inside and watched Broken Arrow. That was a great start to the cottage trip. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">
</span><br />
<i><u><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">Day 2</span></u><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;"></span><br /></i><div align="JUSTIFY">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">I woke up and played video games for an hour with my friends and then we got out of the house and played soccer. We went to a another beach a little farther from our cottage and there I found more fossils and cool rocks. When we got back we built another fire and this time I roasted my first marshmallow and ate my first s'more, it was delicious. After we roasted AWESOME smores my friends and I performed an improv about a miner that encountered some monsters. Later we watched Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban, I liked very much I am a huge fan of Harry Potter. We finished the movie and went upstairs to play video games even though it was 1 o'clock in the morning. When I was at the verge of dying of exhaustion I turned off my iPod and went to sleep. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">
</span><br />
<i><u><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">Day 3</span></u><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;"></span> </i><div align="JUSTIFY">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">I woke up today realizing with a sad and sleepy face that we only had till 12 o'clock to leave home and the time was 8 o'clock so I woke up my friends to make the most of our last few hours there. We went for a walk along the beach and we skipped rocks on the calm lake Huron.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: small;">It was a truly enjoyable weekend, one I will remember for a long time to come.</span></span><br />DJ- Spin that Wheelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09598854107480582681noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015994765373503005.post-3221167521050143472014-04-24T09:16:00.001-07:002014-04-24T09:16:56.074-07:00Divergent – A Critique<div class="MsoNormal">
Divergent is a book starring 16 year old, Tris Prior. She belongs
to faction Abnegation, one of the five facions. Each faction has a meaning –
Erudite – Knowledge, Dauntless – Bravery, Amity – Passive, Candor – Brutally
and Abnegation – Selflessness. The blurb on the back of the book provides no
clues about the storyline so does not peak interest in readers. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
16 year old Tris Prior and her brother are old enough to take
the aptitude test to decide which faction they will join. But these choices
aren’t easy, as it sets your future. During her test something goes wrong and Tris
is determined a Divergent. She is not allowed to tell anyone about this and she
isn’t allowed to ask anyone either. Divergent is a dangerous thing to be, yet
90% of Abnegation’s 16 year olds are Divergent. Her decision to leave
Abnegation and join Dauntless, put her life in danger.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Readers searching for action, violence, mystery and
betrayals should read this book. The Hunger Games and Divergent are so alike in
this sense. The girls are both fighters and are willing to give up everything
for their people. But without a doubt, Veronica Roth is an amazing author and
deserves credit for a cliff hanger.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Divergent kids should have their own faction and should be
equally respected as other factions. They should represent Difference. I think
Veronica should have explained why Divergence occurs and how people who resist
Divergent kids, should be stopped.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The politics in the book was unnecessary because Veronica
talked about it rarely and then dropped the topic. In the book, it makes no
mention that this is the future of Chicago.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Also too many character names was a problem. For example,
Beatrice Prior changes her name to Tris when she moves factions and then in
Insurgent she goes by Six. Names should stay the same and not change, so we don’t
totally forget who the character is.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Divergent is a great book, meant for teenagers and up. I
give the book 8.5 out of 10.<o:p></o:p></div>

There are 2 different kinds of Olympics: Winter & Summer. In the Summer Olympics, there are events like basketball, track & field, tennis and so on. Winter games include biathlon, speed skating and figure skating. Here are some interesting facts about the Olympics:<br />
<br />
<u>Winter:</u><br />
1. These games have never been held in the Southern hemisphere<br />
2. There have unfortunately been 4 deaths in the practise sessions of luge and skiing<br />
3. Sochi was the warmest place to host a winter game<br />
4. 1.8 billion people watched the Vancouver 2010 games<br />
5. The oldest athlete in the winter games is Great Britain's curling champion, Robin Welsh at 54 years<br />
<br />
<u>Summer</u><br />
1. Only four athletes have even won a medal in both the summer and winter games<br />
2. The games held in Athens in 2002 has a record 202 counties participate<br />
3. In the first Olympics in Greece, athletes were crowned with wreaths made from olive leaves not medals<br />
4. China did not win a medal until 1984<br />

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I went to India for three weeks and although I cannot write about my entire trip, I have written my best days for my best vacation yet.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">We finally got to Mangalore after the three plane ride. My uncle Kenneth was waiting to pick us up from the airport at
Mangalore. When we got to Premdhan, my
grandparent’s house both set of my grandparents were there. They<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>were so happy to see us after one year and I
was happy to see them too. After we spoke to them for a while we had to go to
the hotel we were staying in. It was called Plama. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Once we got there I
fell asleep because I was extremely tired. The next day I went to my aunt Marriette’s
house where I met my cousin in law Roxana. I spoke to her about movies and we talked about movies she and I wanted to go for with all my cousins like, The Hobbit
2. I wanted to go for it so bad.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After
that I showed Roxana a game that I like called Clash of Clans. She said she
thought it was really cool. Then I went back to Plama with my parents where I finally
finished my book called 'Framed'. My cousins from a nearing city, Bangalore arrived the next day and I spoke to them about their time in India and
their experiences. We go really well together even though they are much older than
me. They are really the best cousins ever. On my trip, we also went to the beach;
we went in a car and it took about forty minutes to get there but it was well worth it. The
beach was really beautiful and we swam a lot too. After the beach we went for
The Hobbit 2: The Desolation of Smaug. We got back at 12 o’clock in the morning
and I dropped in to bed. The following day I just relaxed with my cousins and we bought
some tender coconut and ice apples, they were good. We took the juice back home
and poured it into glasses and shared it. Then we all watched a movie at home it
was called Mall Cop 2, sadly I did not finish the movie because I fell asleep again.
The following day we went to my uncle Mario’s beach house, there I swam with my
cousins in the medium sized pool. At 9pm we had to to leave
because my grandparent’s were tired so we dropped them home and went to my
dad’s friend’s house. There I made two new friends Liam and Ben, they showed me
a game on their iPod which was about archery. They tried to teach me but I was no
good. After 3 hours I said good bye to my friends and we went home. </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">We also celebrated my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary while we were in Mangalore. I raised the toast and every one of my family members were there, they were so happy. We partied till late in the night, after all was over I went
back to the hotel. My last day in India I spent with my grand parent’s. I spoke
to them and showed them my books, they were sad that we were leaving and so was I. But I know I will see them next year. My vacation in India was by far the best one
ever.</span></span></div>

Well, bullying is a form of rude behaviour meant to hurt the feelings of others. We need to understand that bullying is not cool and it has to stop.<br />
<br />
Who is a bystander? A bystander is someone who watches bullying happen and doesn’t do anything about it. You bystanders out there go help a victim and don’t be afraid of what anyone thinks just help every victim you can find.<br />
<br />
Who is a victim? A victim is someone who gets bullied. Hey victims stand up for yourself you can stop a bully every day<br />
<br />
Those are 3 main people in a bullying situation. But how should I stop a bully he/she might hurt me? Well just go to the bully with high shoulders and arched eyebrows and speak with a non-playful tone and tell the bully "STOP’’. If the bully still doesn’t stop tell the teacher immediately. Bullies often are mean because they live in an environment with mean parents , brothers and sisters to so in other words the bully is showing his anger to someone else.1 in 7 kids are either bystanders or bullies. There are many people you can talk to such as your parents ,your teacher or your guardian. Remember don’t be a bully, be an upstander the opposite of a bystander. Have you ever seen a smarties pack it has a kids help phone number on the back call this number if you need help. If you’re a bullying victim and you’ re in trouble just call kids help phone and they’ll be there on the DOUBLE. Don’t worry you are never alone.</span><br />DJ- Spin that Wheelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09598854107480582681noreply@blogger.com0
